Chief of Staff

Build processes for staffing, capacity planning, budgeting, professional development while contributing to meaningful public health outcomes

We’re hiring a Chief of Staff to support our work in public health research, evaluation, and software development. We are accepting applications from out-of-state candidates who wish to work remotely, as well as Twin Cities-based candidates who could work in our office in Minneapolis or work remotely.

In this role, you’ll help build and shape processes for staffing, capacity planning, budgeting, professional development, and business development.

You will work closely with Directors and Project Managers to ensure that all projects across the company are optimally staffed and stay on track and within budget. You’ll support the growth and development of our staff through coaching, feedback, and professional development. This is a unique opportunity to combine your analytical, creative, and  people skills, setting up structures to support our future growth! Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you’ll have a high-impact role at our company.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop and direct staffing plans to ensure evaluation and research projects are fully staffed and deadlines are consistently met
  • Build professional development roadmaps that offer equitable opportunities for staff advancement and increased responsibility
  • Coach and mentor staff to foster career growth
  • Contribute to an inclusive work culture where all staff can grow and thrive
  • Design and improve templates for forecasting, capacity planning, and project budgeting
  • Support business development efforts that align with our core values
  • Monitor staff hours against project budgets and work with Project Managers to make adjustments as needed
  • Maintain clear communication with team members to ensure resource allocation and time management are optimized
  • Streamline processes to enhance efficiency, reduce redundancy, and foster smooth workflows
  • Take a hands-on approach to a wide variety of tasks, recognizing that in a small business, no task is too big or too small

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience in evaluation or research
  • Previous roles that included organizational development, capacity planning, business development, process development, budgeting, forecasting, project management, or relevant roles
  • Experience coaching staff and delivering constructive feedback
  • Proven experience overseeing staffing assignments and collaborating with Project Managers
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle competing demands and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, enabling you to work effectively across teams
  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values including Excelling Together (teamwork) and Making an Impact
  • Experience or interest in public health is preferred

Compensation

In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, PDA offers fair salaries that align with each individual’s skills and experience. The salary range for the Chief of Staff position is $80,000 to $115,000.
